I never expected to see this as I was going into the series but as I read and saw it convey these thoughts I couldn’t put it down. He doesn’t see them as extra-species but as just them, as individuals there are many moments like this throughout the manga. Miia takes this seriously as anyone would and it hurts to hear people say things like this though or main character accepts her and the other girls for who they are.
This happens to Miia at one point in the manga random bystanders see her and think that she’s nasty simply because she’s a lamia. So don’t like the idea and find the extra-species people to be disgusting. The humans in Monster Musume pass this act to try and build relations with the extra-species people, but not all human’s are going to be on board of course. Monster Musume explores some heavy subjects and some that are all to familiar in our current society that being racial equality, discrimination, and individuality. I really enjoy the story of Monster Musume it’s definitely an ecchi harem manga but when you get down to it it’s a mature in more than just sexual content. Will Kurusu be able to survive even one day? One day the two species came together and started to learn more about one another after some time the human race past an act that allows the extra-species to come and live among the humans to learn and hopefully one day live as equals now with this act in action we meet our first two characters, a human named Kurusu Kimihito who accidentally made a volunteer for the exchange program is living with a lamia women named Miia though she is the first of many to come. However, in this universe monster-human hybrids exist and for a decent amount of time lived separate lives from us humans. Monster Musume takes place basically now they don’t give an exact date but it’s definitely modern day. So what is it about Monster Musume that bring me in? Let’s start with the manga’s story and work our way through and maybe we’ll find out. Usually I’m not to big a fan of ecchi stuff I either don’t find the characters appealing through their personality and development, or the ecchi moments are very off putting in how they are used. Monster Musume is a fairly popular series among people I first heard of the series back when it really exploding the internet, around the time when the anime was just starting, and I thought I’d give it a try. Idiotic reason aside, Monster Musume is a Ecchi Seinen series from Mangaka Inui Takemaru the manga was serialized in Comic Ryu magazine back in 2012 and since then has been ongoing, and has been adapted into an animated series as well.
My only excuse is that it has monsters, or rather monster girls, and monsters are generally seen around this time of the month. Monster Musume is by no means a horror manga so some may be wondering why I decided to review this in October. Sure it’s not really suspenseful and it’s mature in a different sense of the word, but it’s got monsters… so that counts for something right? Alright so I know that this manga is not a horror manga it’s not even remotely scary.
